Frame Types are three broad categories into which the majority of BattleFrame Girls can be divided which broadly denote their preferred approach to combat. The three categories are Melee Type, Ranged Type, and Cast Type Frames. While individuals BFGs can have their equipment customized and develop their own preferences and combat style, their choice of Frame will strongly influence these choices.
Melee Type

Melee Type Frames are Frames which primarily attack in close range, either with hand-to-hand combat or with the aid of weapons meant for short distances. They often focus on aggressive tactics and overwhelming enemy Frames, and boast the most physical durability of the three types. Melee Frames are often characterized as being hot-tempered and being the most overtly excited to engage in combat. Due to their high-risk, high reward playstyle and likelihood of incurring frequent damage, they have a somewhat steep learning curve.
A list of Melee Type Frames can be found in Category:Melee Frames.
Ranged Type

Ranged Type Frames are Frames which specialize in ranged combat and typically wield firearms or other projectile weaponry. As Ranged Frames can be specialized for various ranges of engagement, they are the most versatile Frame type, and avoiding close range fights means they are also consistent performers. These qualities make them the most popular style of Frame amongst beginners.
A list of Ranged Type Frames can be found in Category:Ranged Frames.
Cast Type

Cast Type Frames are the broadest of the three categories, and encompass Frames which use unconventional weapons or more indirect methods of attack. Cast Frames can have highly individualistic abilities unable to be replicated by other Frames. Due to the intricacy of their electronics needed to produce these effects, they are often fragile and lacking in raw physical attributes, giving them little or no counter-play when forced to engage with Melee or Ranged Frames in their preferred method of offense.
A list of Cast Type Frames can be found in Category:Cast Frames.
Weavers
Main Article: Weavers
Weavers are a unique category of Frame which exist to create CCUs.
An extremely small amount of CCUs show the potential to become Weavers. When these CCUs are discovered, they are built and transferred to highly specialized Frames for the sole purpose of 'weaving,' the process required to create new CCUs. These bodies are not meant for combat and thus do not fall into any of the three standard categories. Weaver Frames are typically far larger than consumer grade models in order to facilitate the large demands of computation, power and ventilation required for the weaving process.
Delphi is the only Weaver known currently to exist.
Uncategorized Frames
Uncategorized Frames are Frames which are not built for combat and so do not fit into the normal three categories. These Frames may be built for nonviolent recreational activities such as cosplay. They may also be designed for assistant purposes, such as to help with repairs or to provide disability aid to their owner.
