Dr. Amy Rover is the Head of Research and Development for BattleFrame Industries. Dr. Rover inadvertently kicked off the events of the story by abandoning the Prototype in secret.
Bio
Sometime before the events of the story, Dr. Rover was part of 'Project Athena,' a think tank that was formed within BattleFrame Industries.
By the events of the story, she has become the Head of Research and Development for BFI, and is revealed to have been the cause behind The Prototype going missing from BFI's labs, having abandoned it in secret.
Personality
Dr. Rover is described as abandoning the Prototype due a 'fit of altruism born of professional dissatisfaction' in the words of her confidant, Delphi. We may infer from this that Dr. Rover harbors negative feelings about her current work with BFI, and that she may feel nostalgic for an earlier time with the company.
She appears to have a short temper, as she is quick to raise her voice at Delphi when given unsolicited advice on her smoking habit.
Relationships
Delphi
Dr. Rover works with Delphi as part of Research and Development and appears to treat her with professional respect. As a Weaver, Delphi does not have an official position with the company and therefore does not answer to Dr. Rover, speaking bluntly to her about both deliberately losing The Prototype and preparing to lie about it. While Delphi does not appear to appreciate Delphi giving her health advice related to her smoking habit, she is otherwise polite with her and accepts her assessment of the Personality Drift phenomenom without question.
Greg Caddy
Dr. Rover worked together with Greg on "Project Athena" prior to the events of the story. Greg took on a mentor role with the young Amy, and it's likely Dr. Rover feels fondly about this time together as she keeps a framed photo of the team posing together on her desk.
